- Wonder when the dead tree in the small enclosure is going to be replaced with a living one? We need some shade during the day in both enclosures.ReplyDelete
-
That tree died after it was lifted (pruned) 2 years ago. Aren't the parks in Logan City inspected regularly by the park administration? Surely, they would have noticed the dead tree?ReplyDelete
-
Council officers should have removed the dead tree and also planted more shade trees which were promised when the drought broke. How long ago was that?ReplyDelete
- Right !ReplyDelete
We actually did get two new trees in the park in March 2011. However, they were planted in the shade of trees already in the park instead of in places where they would create new / more shade. -
The issues about the dead tree and more trees for shade has been communicated to Lisa Bradley, our councillor for Logan City Division 1.ReplyDelete
The dead tree has been entered into the Council's (request) system, and Lisa Bradley has given one of the Parks program leaders a large list, which will probably take four years to achieve.
Mogens -
Council's first priority should be to plant trees so that they will have achieved four years growth by the time the council reach the end of the list. Perhaps Ms Bradley could initiate this?ReplyDelete

I agree with YD. However, I have a feeling that Park Administration isn't going to plant any trees on the eastern side of the dog enclosures before the roadwork on the motorway has been completed. In the past Park Administration used other excuses for not planting any trees: The draught, finances, etc.....ReplyDelete
Would it be a good idea to suggest that the council start a volunteer program (similar to Underwood Park) under supervision of Park Administration, and they could plant all of the free trees that haven't been collected by the ratepayers. -

Via the grapevine in Camelot Park, I learnt that one of the residents in our area has complained to Aviation about the increasing number of planes using a shortcut over our the park for the in-flight loop to Brisbane Airport.ReplyDelete
If needed I'll be more than happy to sign a petition! -
The long grass has been reported to Logan City Park Admin 9:10 AM, Wednesday 4 Jan 2012.ReplyDelete
-
Overnight a small tree snapped in Camelot Park. It is covering the footpath near the Maureen Street entrance. Some time ago another trunk was broken off a tree on the northern slope and dragged to the same entrance. It's lying on the eastern side of the walkway. Both incidents have been reported to Logan City Park Administration.ReplyDelete
-
Old graffiti was removed today from the walkway in Camelot Park. It has been there since the last "attack" on the scout den and cars in Tintagel and Camelot Streets.ReplyDelete
-
The fallen tree was removed Friday 3 Feb 2012. Sunday 5 Feb 2012 I've requested the grass to be mowed.ReplyDelete
-
Another resident contacted the council on Friday 3 Feb 2012 and requested the grass to be cut. The park was mowed Tuesday 7 Feb 2012.ReplyDelete
- Anonymous February 13, 2012 10:27 AMI would like to strongly ask that people to pick up your dogs droppings instead of texting or goggling on your phones and not watching what your dog is doing. I know of two people that haven't picked it up. It makes me so angry that you don't do it. And other people stand in it. Also if your dog wants to play with a ball bring one for it and not let it bother other dogs and people. Which then have to leave the park angry.ReplyDelete
-
Right, it happens all the time. However, you could approach a person, who is not picking up after his/her dog, and give him/her a bag.ReplyDelete
- Anonymous February 14, 2012 9:01 AMI have approach them. And they always give me but I don't have to pick up. I am sick of people not doing the right thing. And thinking they are above the law. And just plane manners. Next time I just might pick it up and though it at themReplyDelete
- Anonymous February 14, 2012 9:02 AMI have emailed the council to see if we can get more trees and a small light in the dog park. we will see what they will come back withReplyDelete
-
Good - the more requests for light and shade, the better. When Neighbourhood Watch was still active, we did ask for light and shade, and we mentioned it to Lisa Bradley not long ago. It's on the wish list.ReplyDelete

I've been informed by the council contractors that the schedule for mowing Logan Parks is every 3 weeks at this time of the year. This means we cannot expect the grass to be mowed before 28 Feb 2012. I wonder if Riverdale Park at the end of Armstrong Road, Meadowbrook, only is mowed every three weeks?ReplyDelete

About 5 years ago we asked the previous Division 1 councillor for trees. 5 years ago when we had the first meeting with park administration, we asked for trees.ReplyDelete
Tuesday the 6th of March 2012 the council planted 7 trees (fig trees?) for shade. 5 trees were planted on the eastern side between the dog enclosures and the walkway. 1 tree was planted in the north-eastern corner of the big enclosure even though we had asked for all the trees to be planted on the outside. The last tree was placed in the corner between the two enclosures.
We still need trees planted on the outside on the northern and north-western end of the little dog enclosure, as there is no shade during the day.
I know that the Division 1 Councillor has been canvassing our area lately. The next Local Government Quadrennial Elections are due to be conducted on 28 April 2012. Wonder if that is the reason that park admin is planting the trees? -
Have not been to the dog park for a while. Must go down and check the tree planting. As usual I suspect the the work was done without consultation with the park users.ReplyDelete
-
Inspected the tree planting at Camelot Park and find the work satisfactory except that no trees have been provided in the small dog park where one had previously been removed. What do you have to do? Of course the drainage is a disgrace and no effort has been made to provide fill for the boggy areas. Sent a request off the Lisa Bradley.ReplyDelete
-
Logan City Division 1 Councillor, Cr Lisa Bradley was visiting and inspecting Camelot Park yesterday, the 7th of March 2012. Lisa Bradley had a talk to some of the regular users of the dog enclosures.ReplyDelete

We should have elections more often!ReplyDelete
Today the council has cleared the walkway and shoulder in the south-eastern corner of the park in attempt to make the rainwater disappear faster after heavy rain. I understand that this is a temporary solution.
To help reduce the mud problems after rainy periods in the big dog enclosure, sand has been distributed along the fence.
Furthermore, the big groves in the grass area around the dog parks, has been filled with sand. The groves were made by council vehicles a few days ago when planting the trees along the walkway on the eastern side of the park.
As I said, we need more elections.... (just being corny).
